THU 7/21 (2:30PM) — This late into the season and playoffs, I usually abandon this page and everything you need to know is left on the playoff brackets, but due to the recent stretching of the playoffs, I made some changes to the roadmap. Therefore, I have updated this page. Scroll down to see the playoffs being stretched over 7/24 and 7/31. We should be done by 8/7, but if there is a repeat championship, that will happen on 8/14.
However, if the Ed O’Banners are one of the teams in the repeat championship, that will be delayed to 8/21. We also have a backup overflow of Sun 8/28, but I’m not sure we can go beyond that, which would collide into Labor Day Weekend and into September.
THU 7/4 (4:15PM) — Due to a severe gym shortage in SF on 7/10, we have decided to postpone the 6FT-SF playoff start to 7/17. As you can see by the roadmap, the championship should occur by 7/31, with a possible repeat championship on 8/7. All teams will get double-elimination status, due to the 6-game regular season. It is because of this relatively small group of teams (6), that we decided we could move the 6FT-SF division playoffs back a week without major consequences to the calendar. Here are the changes made to the roadmap thus far, as well as the dates they were changed…
5/18 – swaps betw 5/22 and 6/5 due to Falc tip conflict
6/8 – move 6/12 Hang/Falc to 6/19 due to Hang tip conflict
6/20 – split playoffs1 due to 7/10 gym shortage
7/1 – postpone playoffs to 7/17 due to gym shortage
THU 6/9 (8:00AM) — For 6/12, Hangover requested an early game and the Falcons requested a tipoff 1p-3p, but this was unresolvable therefore we have moved the matchup to 6/19, the makeup weekend and also Fathers Day. As such, the Falcons requested a 7p tipoff which Hangover obliged to. You may scroll down or click the link below to go to the roadmap.
WED 5/11 (1:45PM) — Here’s the roadmap for the season for 6FT-SF. Please note, this the first draft and is subject to change, based on any unforeseen circumstances for this Sun 5/15. I should know by tomorrow night if there are any such quirks, such as a drastic special request that would cause disruption in the schedule.
The feedback that we got from teams was that they wanted to stay in their city more-so than anything else. In the past, we have had no choice but to combine the SF with OAK teams so as to create a division with at least six teams. Now, we have six teams alone in SF (and six in OAK), so there is no need to blend the two divisions.
Granted, we could have one Sunday where we pit SF vs OAK, but where would we hold the games? That becomes the difficulty in choosing between SF or OAK. So nevermind that, we’ll just have two separate divisions of 6FT, one in SF and one in OAK.
With just 6 teams, I don’t think it makes sense to have a 7-game regular season schedule. You play each team for 5 games, then repeat once. Repeating twice to give you 7 games would just be redundant, and when we repeat, it is best to do it based on standings: 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th, 5th vs 6th. Then remember playoff start right after that, and you have #4 vs #5 and #3 vs #6, so it’s more spread out that way. If you go with a 7-game regular season, what are the matchups for the 2nd week of repeats? Just too complicated that way.
As a result, with only 6 games in the regular season, we default to all 6 teams having double-elimination status for the playoffs, which upholds the 8-game minimum season that is guaranteed in Dream League.
You can see I matched up the actual 5/8 matchups to adhere to the structure of the 6-team schedule. Future blocks of games per week, even this Sun 5/15, could theoretically be juggled to accommodate a schedule quirk here or there. Should you be concerned with anything you see below, please email wylie(at)dreamleague(dot)org and we will explain or fix it.
Remember, this is strictly a 6’0″ without shoes division. We have so many divisions, if you do have someone over 6’0″ without shoes, you’re supposed to play in that division (e.g., A/R-SF or AAA-SF).
If you see red text with a line through it, it means that’s where the game was originally scheduled in a “perfect” template. However, special requests can move those games to other dates, such as denoted in bold green, and a series of swaps can occur, but the matchups will always be fixed. The number of red cross-outs should always equal the number of bold green adds.
You can see that the bye from 5/8 involving Ed O’Banners and Falcons has been interpreted as a matchup that will be made up later; for now 6/19 has been chosen as the makeup date and will probably stay that way unless one of the teams speaks up and requests it on another date (which could cause a doubleheader for both teams).
