WED 3/30 (4:15PM) — We’re down to our Final Three. Pretty straightforward here. Please keep in mind, we have our annual LA Showcase tournament on Apr 16-17. We may implement the champion of this division from Dream League to face an equivalent champion from PacRimSports for that weekend. Not sure yet, though.
If the Outlaws lose, then we would come back next Sun 4/10 and play the repeat championship.
WED 3/23 (12:30PM) — Forgot to mention, it’s #4 vs #6 and #3 vs #5, not the traditional high-low #6 vs #3 and #5 vs #4, in the Losers Bracket because the 4-5 and 3-6 have already been played in this bracket. Replaying those matchups would render their first meeting irrelevant. So if we can avoid that, we avoid that. Remember, it’s still a mini-final-four in the Losers Bracket. The winner of that mini-final-four will still be the rightful best team out of those 4 on that day. And it’s not like we paired the top two seeds to meet each other, either.
TUE 3/22 (2:00PM) — Here’s the next round. Pretty straightforward. We have a slight proverbial bullet to dodge with the closure of PHHS this Sun 3/27, but I think we’ll be okay. Looks like later tipoffs. You can see that the Losers Bracket is a mini-final-four (i.e., doubleheader for the winners)…
THU 3/17 (1:45PM) — The bracket has a typo. I don’t know why, but it skips 3/27. There is no reason for that. Therefore, please understand the next round is supposed to be 3/27.
Btw, the caveat to the above is, as it always is, barring unforeseen circumstances or other wrenches thrown at me from left field (e.g., gym closures, etc.).
TUE 3/15 (7:45PM) — Here’s the playoff brackets for this Sun 3/20. The dates are also included so you can see the plan for the remainder of the playoffs. You can see that the Losers’ Bracket (LB) features high-seed vs low-seed.
For 3/20, the Losers’ Bracket actually takes a week off because we need to wait for two more losers to join the party down there. Then on the following Sun 4/2, there will be a “mini-final-four” there so that we have one LB team remaining to play against the last team to get demoted from the Winners’ Bracket (see below). We should get done by 4/9 unless there’s a Repeat Championship.
Incidentally, we’re having our annual LA Showcase tournament on Apr 16-17 in LA. If there is a Repeat Championship and one of the teams is playing in the LA tournament then we would, of course, skip it and resume on 4/24 — however, this is only if one of the teams is playing in the tournament, as we do not want to encourage teams to take a weekend off when they very well could be playing.
